Huntington Beach Wedding Los Angeles – Ashleigh and Sean

Huntington Beach Wedding Los Angeles

Wow, wow, wow is all I can say about this wedding and Los Angeles too! I was so excited to be asked to be Ashleigh and Sean’s photographer for their Huntington Beach wedding. I first met Ashleigh about 4 years ago when I was the photographer at her sisters wedding in Hampshire. To receive a phone call nearly 3 years later, asking if I was available to shoot their wedding was a nice surprise. To find out it was in L.A was somewhat of a shock, of course I literally answered yes before they had even finished asking, who wouldn’t?

Throughout the next year I was kept up to date on proceedings by Ashleigh’s Mum, Sarah. As the time drew nearer I found myself watching Youtube videos on L.A more and more. I had never been to L.A before, in fact I hadn’t even been to the U.S.A, so this was all new to me. To have my first destination wedding in a country that I had never been to was a bit daunting when thinking about it, but also extremely exciting too!

The Wedding

As soon as I started on the day though, it was business as usual. All be it in a beautiful Hotel, by the beach, in one of the most amazing cities in the world. Yep business as usual.

American weddings are a bit different to what I am used to here in the U.K. For instance, the wedding ceremony was at 5pm (5.30 in the end, Brides tradition to be late). They then have a cocktail hour, then it’s straight into the reception. Time wise for portraits we were up against it which is nothing new but the Hotel grounds had some nice spots to use. Ashleigh and Sean were fantastic to work with and both looked amazing too!

Ashleigh and Sean’s wedding was such a nice occasion. surrounded by family and friends, mostly from the U.K who had all made the trip to celebrate with the happy couple. It was quite an emotional day throughout but I think the most emotional part happened when Ashleigh opened a letter that Sean had written. First Ashleigh tried reading it but couldn’t because of the tears, then Mum had a go but then she had to hand it over to Shannon, who is Sean’s cousin to read it.

Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach

The Hyatt regency is a beautiful Spanish style hotel right on the pacific coast. Huntington Beach is basically a surfers paradise with miles of white sandy beaches and some amazing waves. The weather pattern seemed to follow a routine of, hazy in the morning then bright warm sunshine in the afternoon. (quite easy to get used too)
